This workshop is for Alexander teachers
who are interested in keeping their students
much more engaged between lessons.
It will be presented in 3 parts:

Teachin' Preachin' Coachin'

In TEACHIN' you'll learn the QUAD: The 4 Basic Primal Alexander études which are: TheCyCle™ = A curiosity-based form of Constructive Thinking MJ™= A 3-Part movement used to teach Inhibition & Direction TajMahal = 8 movements that explore "Thinking In Activity" 17Steps™ = An étude that teaches a great way to experiment. These four Études go a long way to providing beginning students with enough material (and challenge) to keep them engaged and improving for the first 6 months of their studies.

In PREACHIN' we'll look at:
Some of Primal Alexander's most useful frameworks. Things like:

  • 5 Points of light

  • SubtleMovementEmpathy™

  • Sense Reception

  • VoiceTouch™

  • Send the Ghost & Follow

Preachin' is a sampling of the techniques & mindsets that teachers and students learn by doing the études at home and by coming to class. Once mastered, these principles can be applied with ease to any daily or specialized activity.

Finally...

In COACHIN' I'll be doing two things:

I'll be teaching individual lessons to people doing a variety of activities (including working with Alexander teachers as they give hands-on lessons).
&
I will also be working with the whole group as an ensemble, exploring both traditional and non-traditional Alexander activities including Monkey, Hands on the back of the Chair and a few of my voice & observation studies.

In the years since the Pandemic, I've noticed something interesting happening to the teachers who have been taking my classes. They are experiencing a series of changes you might call...

                                "Collateral Advantage"

It seems that as a result of developing the skills needed to teach A.T. without hands-on, these teachers have been experiencing big changes in the quality of their Use and in their teaching skills across the board including their hands-on work.

I think this is happening because at the heart of Primal Alexander is a unique approach to Constructive Thinking that is a form of "indirect directing" in the sense that it involves using...
Questions Instead of Directions

By being curious about how the level of ease in your body changes depending upon what you choose to pay attention to, anyone (including brand new students) can quickly leverage the power of their Primary Control to improve their Use and...

If you happen to be an Alexander teacher...
This approach is a total game-changer because it aids "thinking in activity", speeds up the healing of faulty sensory appreciation and it gives us a means whereby we can actually do what Alexander did, namely...

"We can throw away the habit of a lifetime in a few minutes if we use our brains."

My hope is that this little two part mini-workshop will provide you with a few additional teaching tools and a few new ways we can “use our brains” that will ultimately help you to help your students better and faster.

PLUS...

IT'll REALLY BE KINDA FUN!
